In conversation with Keely Stocker, Drapers
Hear from Keely Stocker, Editor of Drapers as she tells us why Drapers are partnering with Jacket Required, what she's looking out for in menswear and her key highlights at the show.
#1 How does Drapers champion the menswear sector?
Drapers aims to support businesses across the entire fashion industry, from independents and brands to the larger high street players. Menswear is an increasingly dominant sector and one Drapers continues to champion. Drapers coverage, both print and online, includes all of the menswear catwalks as well as the European trade shows, connecting buyers with new brands as well as highlighting trends to support their seasonal buys. Alongside this, we are the first place to find the latest industry news and interviews with leaders of brands dominating the menswear market.

#2 Is there anything or anyone you're particularly excited to see at the summer edition? What will you be looking for at the show?
It’s always hard to define what will catch our eye but each season we’re on the hunt for new brands as well as the evolution of established brands – it’s all about what is new for the season. Increasingly, we’re seeing more and more collaborations which can bring a fresh take to collections. We’ve also seen an abundance of sport and streetwear styles over previous seasons which look set to remain prominent.
#3 What does the future of men's fashion look like in your eyes?
Menswear, like the rest of the fashion industry is constantly evolving and with the pace faster than ever before, the future can be challenging to predict! However, as the male shopper has evolved, the growth of the global menswear market has outperformed womenswear and Mintel estimates that menswear spending grew 5.1% to reach £15.9 billion in 2018. Industry wide, sustainability is becoming a core focus for businesses and brands and we’re increasingly going to see greater use of environmentally friendly materials and ethical trading practices. It’s something we will investigate further to look at the solutions and initiatives the industry is introducing in this area at the
Drapers Sustainable Fashion event.
#4 Why do you think London is such an important destination for the fashion industry?
It is the diversity of London and the UK that gives it such a global appeal. The London Fashion Weeks have become a hotbed of new ideas and creativity. In menswear, from heritage brands like Barbour, to the traditional side of Savile Row and the ever-growing streetwear scene, the UK has an eclectic mix of brands on offer.
#5 What is it about Jacket Required that attracts you over other trade shows?
Jacket Required has secured its place in the trade show calendar by bringing together a variety of menswear product under one roof. It’s as much about the networking as it is the product and has built a UK focal point for the menswear sector to come together. Last season, the new layout was welcomed and there was a mix of independents and bigger retailers in attendance. I’m looking forward to seeing them all again this season!
