Padmore & Barnes
Synonymous with fine shoemaking, Padmore & Barnes has been creating footwear of quality and taste, hand-stitched and hand-crafted to the highest standards, for generations. Founded in 1934, the Kilkenny-based factory spent 1964 to 1987 exclusively producing and exporting its popular hand-stitched Wallabee style and other classic models for Clarks across the globe.
Today, the original manufacturer of the Wallabee is back for the next generation under its own label. With its hand-made Irish style, the brand is internationally recognised as a leader in the field of design – soft suede uppers sit on original plantation crepe soles, pushing the boundaries of innovation and production techniques in the manufacture of casual footwear.
Adsum
Hailing from New York City, Adsum offers clothing focused on its core interests of athletics and American menswear.
Creating a unique interpretation of traditional men’s staples, its collection features a mix of technical outerwear and sportswear – crisp, white, brushed-cotton shirting, faded flannels, heavyweight hoodies, wax swing jackets, three-layer waterproof, breathable barn coats and anoraks that feel good in the NYC humid weather – the label embodies its relationship with the North East to produce clothes that, at heart, work in any environment.
Velour by Nostalgi
For the man in tune with time, Velour by Nostalgi introduces classic style for the creative mind. Passionate about producing updated classic menswear with sound values, the brand adds life to its collection, using special fabrics including jacquard weaves, brushed finishes and natural fibres.
Autumn/winter 2016 reveals an essential, cleaner look for the label. Named Bohemian Luxury, the collection draws inspiration from the 90s, with colour blocking, grey, black, white and injections of colour teamed with handmade graphic designs. Continuing to challenge the classic menswear conventions with exceptional expertise and materials from the best factories worldwide, Velour also introduces an “add life” symbol to reflect its value-driven ambition.
OLOW
Created in Montreuil by Mathieu Sorosina and Valentin Porcher, French clothing brand Olow is distinguished by raw, surrealistic collections – paying homage to greener pastures, advocating a simple lifestyle of handmade craft, art, escape and poetry.
In keeping with ethical values, proximity and independence, Olow works with unknown international artists to create relaxed clothing for relaxed times. Considering local taste to always be better, the brand chooses to produce all its clothing in the Portuguese region of Braga – within three family-run factories that share its ethos and inspirations, just a few kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean. Priding itself on craftsmanship, the brand has put together a clean collection of staples – sophisticated and elegant – embodying authentic and simple living for the contemporary casual.
Han Kjøbenhavn
Made from all the components that form the fundamentals of Danish design, Han Kjøbenhavn draws upon its country’s culture, vintage workwear and military garments to create its contemporary collection, which is easily and instantly recognisable. Recent collaborations have seen the label work with renowned American fabric producer Pendleton Woolen Mills, to launch an exclusive series of tailored styles in a unique fabric created especially for the brand, as well as combining its design DNA in a special edition of the Arne Jacobsen Grand Prix TM chair with classic furniture maker and fellow Dane, Republic of Fritz Hansen.
Inspired by 60s industrial design, for autumn/winter 2016 the brand continues to create clothing with focus on functionality and purpose – calling upon a broad range of materials used to cope with Nordic winters. A label whose point of difference has always been in the detail, innovatively discovering the interstice between streetwear and tailoring to provide accessible luxury, in a simple Scandinavian style.
