Jacket Required AW15 x The Trends - Scandinavia

Scandinavians have always been in high regard for their clean, minimal approach to clothing, creating popular and formidable brands within both the high street and the high-end.

At Jacket Required autumn/winter 2015 there were returning Scandinavian brands as well as the introduction of new exhibitors, some of which referred to inspirations in their respective home countries addressing the local consumer, and some shifting away from the assumed "minimal" aesthetic.

As seen across both contemporary tailoring and denim, 70s has been a reoccurring trend this season. Danish brand Wood Wood have used vintage cycling references to create a 70s colour palette and heavier fabrics with detailed trimming.

"Sportswear is always going to be part of our DNA. We wouldn't say it was necessarily a Scandinavian reference, but as the brand grows we like to strive to make clothes we'd want to wear ourselves." Claes Göran was formed 2 years ago creating a sneaker and apparel brand that is both close to home yet references London post-WW2 for their AW15 collection. Though the brand doesn't look so much at Swedish customers or local trends, they recognise the Scandinavian appeal. "Since we are a really small country we strive to find pieces, impressions and inspirations from all over the world and then transform/mix them/take out the essence to make something new."
