This new edit of menswear collections will mirror the premium line-up of Scoop's women's fashion labels and will be part of the show's exciting September 2021 edition.

Meet the line-up: Jennifer Chen, SNOWMAN New York

SNOWMAN New York are bringing the Big Apple to East London this January. Specialising in outerwear that’s as functional as it is unique, SNOWMAN are hopping across the pond this season to combine their signature New York attitude with East London style. We sat down with founder and creative director Jennifer Chen to get the low down on the brand ahead of their appearance this January.

Who are you and what do you do at SNOWMAN New York?

I’m Jennifer Chen, the Founder and Creative Director of SNOWMAN New York.


What’s the SNOWMAN New York story so far?

I live in New York City and its energy and aesthetic are a constant source of inspiration to me. So, in 2012 at the heart of Manhattan’s Garment District, I started SNOWMAN New York.
I founded SNOWMAN New York with the aim to provide people with fashionable down jackets.  Down jackets are such a workhorse in everyone’s winter closet especially in New York. Function wise, it’s perfect, warm, lightweight, durable, and relatively low-maintenance. However, most of them are purely functional, so I wanted to create a line of unique down outerwear that has all the benefits of down whilst being fashion statement pieces.
I work closely with our production plant in Vietnam, meaning I have more liberty in choosing premium materials and can achieve higher quality control, all the while staying true to SNOWMAN’s unique designs.

How would you describe the New York aesthetic?

Unique, diverse, empowering, cool, and functional


Why have you chosen to bring your collections to London and the UK market?

We’ve had a few European accounts that have always given us very positive feedback, season after season, which is what has encouraged me to bring SNOWMAN to the UK. I feel that there has always been this mutual admiration between London and New York, two of the greatest cities in the world. And I’m very excited to see what will happen when a native New Yorker brand crashes a London party!


Is sustainability something that’s important to your brand?

In this day and age, sustainability is important to basically every brand and every customer, and we are no exception. Although we are unable to offer 100% eco-friendly products as of yet, we, much like many of our competitors, are continuously working hard to achieve this goal. We are eco-conscious in every step of the way, as much as we possibly can be. And hopefully one day we’ll become a leading brand in sustainability within the fashion world.
