Oliver Sweeney to make debut at Jacket Required AW19

British footwear designer Oliver Sweeney is set to join a strong line-up of contemporary brands as it makes its debut at Jacket Required AW19 in January.

Using a British lens to filter inspiration from across the world, Oliver Sweeney works with designers, craftsmen, factories, in-house staff and customers to create an original range of men’s shoes, outerwear and accessories that reflect its customers’ individuality, flair and success.

Not only are Oliver Sweeney’s products characterised by top quality, the brand also provides invaluable customer service including the opportunity to get the shoes professionally tattooed.

Ahead of the brand's appearance at Jacket Required Autumn/Winter 19, we spoke to Simon Labbate, Head of UK Sales, to find out more about the brand and what’s in store for AW19.

Simon, how would you describe the brand's style?

Our business has had a simple philosophy: create classic timeless styles with a modern twist of something special, and design beautiful shoes and have them made by the best shoemakers in the world from the finest materials.

That’s still how we work today. But as much as we live by Oliver’s vision, we’re not ones to rest on his laurels. Our heritage is part of who we are, but it doesn’t stop us constantly evolving by combining classic shoemaking techniques with 21st century technology and innovation.

The principles for how we design and make our shoes go right across our collection – from Oliver’s original Anatomical Last, to using a natural, chemical-free tanning process on all our leather – is as important to us as breathing.

Can you tell us more about your unique Anatomical Last?

Our shoes are built around our unique Anatomical Last which mimics the profile of the human foot and results in the precise proportions and sculpted fit we demand. It’s a unique design, created after years of intensive research and exclusive to Oliver Sweeney. Sculpted to give support to the arch, a gentle twist through its length simulates the natural shape of the foot, and helps reduce rolling to the outside of the foot.

What prompted you to exhibit at Jacket Required?

We feel Jacket Required would be a great avenue for us to showcase our new brand direction and design philosophy alongside other key competitors that exhibit at the show.

Who are you hoping to meet at Jacket Required AW19?

We are very fortunate to have a strong UK wholesale business working with some of the best independent retailers and department stores. We look forward to meeting new potential clients, catching up with our existing stockist and friends from the industry.

What can we look forward to seeing from you at Jacket Required AW19?

We are extremely excited to be showcasing our new AW19 collection, which we believe is our most refined to date, offering unique constructions and hand finishing techniques. We will be showing a wide range of products and price points from our luxury Italian collection, hand-antiqued Goodyear-welted range and our new hand tamponato accessories collection.
