Sartorial City

As one of the world's most visited cities, London tenders a diverse dynamic to any urban explorer, with its timeless offering and juxtaposition of old and new, each as appealing as its contrasting counterpart.

This July, Jacket Required opens its doors, to provide an immersive experience within Shoreditch’s Old Truman Brewery, joining together burgeoning brands and buyers, all arriving in our city in sartorial splendour. The premium menswear trade show places the spotlight on everything from the most directional streetwear to the finest contemporary smart dressing in its now established, and expected, idiosyncratic ideal.

Today, we look to a selection of ingenious international labels taking part for spring/summer 2016. See the full list so far on the Jacket Required Brand Page of the website.

If you haven't yet received an email to confirm your invitation to the next edition, taking place on 29 & 30 July, please register your details on the Jacket Required website.

Marvis

Cult toothpaste line Marvis continues to revolutionise the way we brush our teeth – turning a chore into a daily pleasure. Formulated to whiten teeth, freshen breath and protect against tooth decay, tartar and plaque, the unique Italian-born range delivers maximum protection and a remarkable whitening effect.

Created in Florence, where the brand has been a trusted favourite for generations, the Marvis collection boasts seven original, aromatic, contemporary toothpastes – each version starting with a mint base from the popular Classic Strong to flavours including Cinnamon and Liquorice, all packaged in a luxuriously retro-styled apothecary tube – impeccable heritage design which comes so naturally to the Italians.

Monokel Eyewear

Continuing its journey through the human mind, Swedish sunglasses label Monokel Eyewear designs and manufactures handmade statement frames, whilst still keeping true to its heritage of Scandinavian simplicity.

After spending years together on the Swedish skateboard and snowboard scene, Robert Sandgren and Fredrik Sävenberg coupled their vision to launch an eyewear collection, which has already gathered a huge following in the community and with the style conscious from across the globe. Straight out of Stockholm, the label handcrafts all styles using the finest quality acetate, with optics provided by Carl Zeiss Vision® in a complete selection of colourways to present an exquisite collection of conceptual design.

Grayers

Aptly taking its name from the colloquial term for grey flannel trousers in 1950s England, founder Peter Georgiou, a 10-year Ralph Lauren veteran and history buff, was inspired reading about a time when young men switched from wearing three-piece suits in a casual menswear movement.

Seeing a gap in the men’s market for well-crafted clothing with a great fit, he reinvented the classics in a new way, to offer an excellent range of wardrobe fundamentals which had once been the must-have for every man, from British society to American prep schools – before denim, before chinos, there were Grayers. The New York based label changes its storyline from season to season, yet offers the same relaxed sensibility based on a vintage style, rewriting the classics to thoughtfully fill the ‘forgotten middle’ of menswear, which is just as relevant now as it was then.

Legends

On a rainy Scandinavian day in the winter of 2013, the Legends brand was inspired by street culture, with its essence to escape the routines of the 9 to 5 life and fit effortlessly into your wardrobe.

With clean designs and unquestionable quality influenced by the vibe of Southern California and Scandinavian design tradition, the collection gives a classic look which appeals to a wide, male audience – apparel that’s for everyone, whether or not you skate, surf or just enjoy your life. For those who don’t dream of living, but live their dreams. Legends is for the ones who dare; break boundaries – no wave too big, no jump too risky. No coach. No team. Hope is for dreamers.

Newfangle

Having started out as an online menswear store in October 2012, the opportunity arose to become more creative – collaborations with brands including New Balance, Barbour and Penfield fuelled an aspiration to seek more and more. Newfangle – a desire to change, or to change by introducing novelties.

Producing garments for different occasions, attention to detail is taken to the extreme – made completely in Portugal in family factories committed to producing quality, heritage casual menswear for any given situation. Reflecting the good things of Portugal with a touch of style.

Flying Zacchinis

Linked to the past – a past that’s not retro but as relevant today as then. A period of risk-taking, the mass mayhem of the open road and freedom, with a devil-may-care attitude of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Established in Hong Kong, founder and designer George Migliorelli uses his experience from a crafts tradition, working with his hands be it carpentry, iron or steel, machinery as well as leather. Flying Zacchinis aims for simplicity and functionality in design, combined with leather of the highest grade, full grain, vegetable-tanned cowhide made with care into finished product, hand-stitched wherever possible. Luxurious and durable – the leather uniquely ages — no two natural hides are alike — it grows into you, and you into it and becomes even richer through wear, sun and time. Integrity, strength and functionality of the product is paramount – built to last and to be enjoyed for years to come. Quality in design, materials and craftsmanship never goes out of style.
