The Jacket Required SS20 Line Up: in talks with Native North

Danish brand Native North’s identity and design process are both deeply rooted in the Scandi way of operating. From meticulous attention to detail to a contemporary aesthetic which underpins each and every element of their design, the Native North brand is right at home in it’s Copenhagen HQ. Ahead of their appearance at Jacket Required SS20, we sat down with brand manager Greg Hurley to find out more about the Scandi brand.

Tell us the story behind Native North – how did the brand start?

Native North was founded by designer and owner Morten Hvidtsted in 2014. Morten started Native North after spending several years in the Asia, where he had good insight in the manufacturing business. This gave him a good understanding of the industry and a great opportunity to start Native North.  Native North is based in Nørrebro, Copenahgen, where both the head office, showroom and flagship store is located.

How would you describe the Native North aesthetic?

Native North clothing stems from the synergy between timeless Scandinavian Design meticulous attention to unique and high-quality fabric choices.

What inspired your latest collection? Are there any themes we should be looking out for?

Our collection tip-toes the lines that run between traditional contemporary, streetwear and workwear inspired clothing. We have created an inherently wearable collection with vibrant tones to offset the constantly changing Scandinavian weather.

How do your Scandinavian roots come through in your collections?

Our Scandinavian roots comes through in our design which is defined by a meticulous attention to unique and high-quality fabric choices. Our collections are always focused on technical outwear which is designed for the ever-changing Danish weather.

Why are you exhibiting at Jacket Required this season?

Native North is exhibiting at Jacket Required because we think London is a great location and retailers come here from all over the world to find the right brands. We attended Jacket Required last season, which proved a success and helped us to expand our stockist and retailer list. SS20 is another great opportunity for us as we look to gain more retailers. We see ourselves showin at Jacket Required for many more years!

What will you be bringing to the SS20 edition?

It’s a bit too soon to say but we can always guarantee a wide color palette, light breathable fabrics, and several pieces that weave effortlessly from office to Friday bar.
